Susana Jaime-Mena was born in Buenos Aires, Argentina. She moved to the United States in 1980, and attended the School of Visual Arts in New York City, where she earned a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree in 1984 and a Master of Fine Arts degree in 1987. Her honors include a Merit Scholarship, Louis Bouché Memorial, The Rhodes Family Awards, and a Pollock-Krasner Foundation grant.
Jaime-Mena has exhibited extensively throughout the United States and abroad. In 1989 she had her first one-person show at Julian Pretto-Berland-Hall Gallery in New York City. Her more recent solo exhibitions include Blue Lead in 2002 at the Gomez Gallery, Baltimore, Maryland; Susan Jaime-Mena: Grids and Volumes, also in 2002, and Susana Jaime-Mena: 1990-2000, 2001, both at Nohra Haime Gallery, New York City.
Her work is included in numerous collections including those of the Stedelijk Museum, Amsterdam; the Wadsworth Atheneum, Hartford, Connecticut; Milwaukee Art Museum, Wisconsin; and The New School of Social Research, New York City.
