New York-based artist Vincent Szarek is known for his painted fiberglass sculptures, smooth and reflective with a fetishistic finish. Szarek bridges subjects of high and low, fine art and American subcultures. His work draws formally from car, motorcycle and surf culture, as well as minimal art, monochromes and finish fetish. The subjects are very American, the current show includes beer, the Coors brewing company, Smokey and the Bandit, marijuana and saloons.
He earned his BFA from Rhode Island School of Design in 1995. He has solo shows currently at Ruzicska in Salzburg, and upcoming at Mehdi Chouakri in Berlin. He currently lives and works in Brooklyn, NY.
