Born in Kasama, Zambia, Victor Makashi obteined an Art Teacher’s Diploma from the Evelyn Hone College, Lusaka, in 1986. He also has a diploma from the Mufulira Teacher’s College (Lusaka), obtained in 1981. He taught art at the Kabulonga Girls School in 1992 before joining the Copperbelt Museum (northern Zambia) as a Senior Technical Officer, and served as Copperbelt Province chairperson for the National Arts Council during that time. He was later elected chairman of the National Arts Council, and worked as Deputy Director of the National Arts Council of Zambia. He has exhibitwed and participated in many local and international exhibitions and workshops. Makashi is currently Director of the National Arts Council of Zambia.
