A painter in Indiana, Ruth Anderson was born in Indianapolis, Indiana July 7, 1914. She studied at the John Herron School of Art and her teachers were Clifton Wheeler and Gerry Pierce. Primarily a landscape and still life painter, her subjects were often downtown Indianapolis street and architectural scenes and also children at play. She traveled West and in 1937 exhibited in Tucson, Arizona, winning an award at the Allied State Exhibition.
The work of Ruth B. Anderson is displayed at Indiana University in the Dailey Family Memorial Collection and at De Pauw University.
