Robert Ferrandini

For twenty-five years, Robert Ferrandini has been celebrated for his poignant landscapes inspired by art history, film, literature, and popular culture. Each painting expresses “prophetic foreboding while simultaneously concocting voluptuous conceits that contend with masters in the history of landscape painting.” Ferrandini characteristically used oil on canvas until a 2001 stroke caused him to choose watercolor and paint with his left hand. This new medium resulted in “unpopulated invented landscapes and seascapes suffused with broad ranges of color, exuberant mark making, and a rapturous glorying in visual phenomena.”
