Nicholas Galanin

Through his installation, photography, video, sculpture, and textile-based work, Nicholas Galanin documents his Tlingit and Unangax heritage, analyzing the intricacies of contemporary Indigenous culture, identity, and representation. While demonstrating and celebrating the evolution of contemporary Indigenous art practice, Galanin seeks to rectify the “widespread misappropriation of Indigenous visual culture, the impact of colonialism, as well as collective amnesia.”
