Through painting, video, and weaving, Miguel Arzabe creates vibrant, dynamic abstractions. Collecting paper ephemera from art shows, modernist paintings, and recycled audio recordings, Arzabe deconstructs and weaves fragments of those pieces together, which reveal “uncanny intersections between form and content, the nostalgic and the hard-edged, failure and recuperation,” he says. “In my work, I draw inspiration from the history of Western modernist painting and the textile tradition of my mestizo Bolivian heritage.”
