In Manuela Viera-Gallo’s practice, a recurring protagonist emerges—the woman. This enigmatic figure embodies a multitude of voices, each representing different facets of the female experience. “She is… the one who protests, the silenced one, the misrepresented, stuck in the family constellation, the sensual, and the one who has to mask behind many shields. Born in Rome during her parents’ exile from Chile, Viera-Gallo’s multidisciplinary practice has been strongly shaped by the impact of social and political violence in Latin America and her personal experience of migration and displacement.
