A resident of Santa Cruz Arriba, Maira Yasmin Flores Reconco began embroidering in 2007 at 12 years old, when after school she watched her mother, Antonia, making Honduras Threads pillows. She said she was intrigued with how her mother turned “very small stiches” into something “so big, beautiful and perfect.” She’s made dozens of items over 10 years. This Uvas pattern is a favorite. She is married and has two children, a girl, Mailin, 5, and a boy, Jaciel, two months old.
