Linda Mitchell’s mixed-media paintings and installations are populated by animals, both real and imagined. The animal imagery in her narrative works become a surrogate for the human experience, “the emotional landscape of life.” Described as an intuitive process, she “allows poetic meaning to emerge from the highly textured layering of painted and other diverse materials,” which often include photographic images, fabric, wood, glass, and found objects.
