Space and time are always the subject for the painter. I paint the same motifs, so that they become part of my body memory. I search for a way to communicate both the cohesive and fractured experience of the landscape — changes that take place over seconds and years. I am looking for ways to express the time of shifting light, the recognition that every moment is different than the one before, and that those moments also co-exist. When objects touch and overlap, tension intensifies, dissolves and resolves. Through imagery that shifts between disintegration and integration, I intend to communicate the nature of memory.
