From earliest memory I have loved the visual arts. I cannot envision my life without something creative happening. Photography was not something I set out to do, but after that first experience in the darkroom where a blank piece of photo paper magically transformed into a black and white image, I was hooked.
Sometimes we are given a day with far from perfect lighting conditions. We have that time only. The photos must be taken. To further the joy of the process and solve the problem I began hand coloring the black and white silver gelatin prints creating images as I wanted to see them, not how they actually existed. This allows each photo to be totally unique. The subtleties are mesmerizing for me. It continues to be one of the loves of my life.
