Spanish sculptor and muralist José Cobo addresses themes of collectivity and individuality in his work. Applying traditional, realist techniques, Cobo produces inventive, moldable epoxy resin sculptures that “capture moments of innocence and transformation” and assume the form of animals, mythological creatures, toys, and children. Viewers “assume the role of outsiders, gazing upon figures crowded in groups or suspended supernaturally from the walls—completely oblivious that they are being watched.”
