Joan Haglund

Joan R. Haglund has been quilting and working with textiles for over thirty years. She learned the craft from a group of retired women who attended her church. Haglund was the editor of the quarterly magazine Geotechnical Fabrics Report in 1985, published by the Industrial Fabrics Association International. Between September 2011 and August 2012, she became a member of the Weavers Guild of Minnesota, one of the largest organizations in the United States that hosts visiting artist workshops, lectures, and classes designed for learners and textile enthusiasts. Haglund was Minnesota State Winner in 1996 during the Land’s End All American contest. For her award-winning quilt, Watercolor Silence, the artist painted individual one-and-a-half-inch fabric squares to imitate an impressionist artwork, inspired by pointillism to create a fall day scene.
