Henry C Pearson

North Carolina native Henry C. Pearson has investigated various avenues of abstraction, often geometric, during his long career. “2nd Theme 6th Variation (Four Lascaux Grays)” comes from a series of checkerboard paintings that explore color relationships. Pearson named the panel for the colors used: Lascaux is a French brand name for an acrylic paint.

Along with Pearson’s other geometric abstractions, this painting provides insight into a sophisticated abstractionist who thinks of himself as a romantic artist primarily concerned with feeling and natural imagery.
