Inspired by the late 19th century luminist painters and photographers, I am drawn to landscapes that have a timeless appeal. I spend most of my time scouting for new sites and revisiting old ones until the light is right. The best images seem to have just been there waiting for me.
Working in the west coast landscape tradition, I use medium and large format cameras with black & white film. I develop the film by hand and after scanning it, adjust the images in Photoshop- often spending many hours working subtle tonal values. Once the files are just right, they are used to produce archival pigment prints on rag paper.
