“In my work, I convey feelings and emotions, magical landscapes that tell stories passed down from generation to generation.” Enrique Cay is a self-taught painter and sculptor whose work celebrates the unique customs, history, and culture of Sumpango, his hometown in the Guatemalan highlands. Using a palette of brilliant high-keyed colors, Cay blends elements of local folklore and Mayan legends told to him as a child to create dreamlike, luminescent compositions.
