

Elena Seroff is a Russian-born American artist whose practice includes abstract painting, drawing, and printmaking. The painting The Place I Live In. New York. Composition 2 showcases Seroff’s geometric abstraction, which she introduced into her art practice when she moved to New York. Seroff writes, “In my series The Place I Live In…I analyze the complexity of urban environments and the cultural, emotional, and mental experiences that define life in a modern city.” This style is inspired by early twentieth-century European art movements such as cubism and the Russian avant-garde.
Seroff studied fashion design at LEX University in Tallinn, Estonia, and earned a diploma in decorative arts from the Art and Industry College in Kaliningrad, Russia. Later, Seroff studied figurative drawing at the National Academy School of Fine Art in New York. In her time there, she founded the Clarus Art Studio for children, served as Art Director of the Pushkin Society of America and established the Pushkin Society Artists Guild.
