“I really enjoy to tell stories, therefore, one may view my photographic work as that of a reporter” – Cyril Ruoso

Thirty eight year old Cyril Ruoso has been a professional photographer for the last 13 years. After his journey to Borneo with the orangutans, he has been especially interested in photographing primates.

In 2002 he published “Être Singe”, Editions de la Martinière, a book which compiled all the years he has photographed apes & monkeys around the world. Last year “The Great Apes” Evans Mitchell Books, editor was published, and this year “L’homme est un singe comme les autres” Hachette pratique was released. All of these books explore the complexity of the monkeys and apes’s life.

Although specially fascinated by the tropics, Cyril has also enjoyed working with the wildlife near his home, in the French countryside, his last feature centering on barn swallows.

Cyril feels very concerned by environmental issues and the world ecological degradation. He hopes that his images will contribute to showing some of the wonders of the planet’s wildlife and landscape. Cyril’s desire is also that his participation will help in alerting the public on the state of the planet and help initiatives involved in habitat and wildlife protection in the field.
