Toro is heavily influenced by her childhood in Puerto Rico that was filled with a menagerie of pets and trips to the island’s rain forests and El Morro castle with her father. The family moved to the United States when she was ten years old, and she spent the rest of her youth in the swampy, tropical climate of Florida. Her more recent move to upstate New York was born out of a desire to “invent new ways of living and making art.”
