Clyde Butcher

With their monumental dimensions and astonishing clarity, Clyde Butcher’s photographs transport viewers to Florida’s idyllic wetlands, coastal shores, and mangroves. Originally trained as an architect, Butcher began photographing landscapes after viewing an Ansel Adams exhibition at Yosemite National Park. Over the years, his style and technique have evolved: after experimenting with color photography, he now exclusively shoots in black and white, preferring the medium’s textural and tonal range.
