Photographer Christopher Makos documented the vibrant world of New York’s cultural elite in the 1970s and ‘80s, which included his close friend Andy Warhol. Not only did Makos document Warhol’s life, accompanying him on trips and social gatherings, but the two also collaborated on such projects as “Altered Images,” for which Makos photographed the pop artist in a variety of wigs and makeup. Warhol referred to Makos as “the most modern photographer in America.”
