Self-taught fiber artist Chris Roberts-Antieau explores the “mysterious origin of joy and the wonder of childhood” in her fabric paintings—tapestries composed of fabric applique and intricate embroidery done on a sewing machine. “My art is really a by-product of my life and what I believe about being alive,” she says. “I seem to be cursed with a constant vision of the ‘big picture’ part of life, which constantly brings forth the same truths—that we are all blessed with the ability to recognize and create joy, and that life is about that creation.”
