For over three decades, Carol Yurrita’s paintings have reflected her interest in highlighting issues involving, almost invisibly, women: their individual work, as well as their impact on society and family. Yurrita has found in painting the best way to express her protest and confrontational profile, as a first technique. She speaks her narrative through painting, digital graphics, and most recently, through the richness of objects, where shape supports her ideas. As a member of “Hecho in Guatemala” she uses her plastic-art training as a platform for expression and to strengthen growth from the perspective of a female collective.
“In my artistic proposal I identify the themes addressed, which are independent of the technique, the values and concerns I identify in society; the identification with social icons, the position of women and concepts that make them evident. This is my continued source of interest.”
