Bette Alexander

Throughout her decades-long career, Bette Alexander has created everything from abstract murals to heavily textured, almost primitively styled works. Her recent focus has been painting and drawing women in New York City in various roles and exploring Jewish themes. Much of her work has been inspired by her travels to Easter Island, Machu Picchu, Ethiopia, Mali, and Papua New Guinea, among other places. “Experiencing the art and people of these places has helped me formulate a more spiritually direct…style,” she says.
