In her large-scale, immersive paintings, Ashley Collins integrates figurative imagery (often horses) with historical documents, metal, and other media. The surface of each work is textured and tactile, an effect she achieves through aging layers of recycled paper—pages from old books, dictionaries, and encyclopedias—outdoors on racks.
