Arnaldo Roche Rabell’s work expresses themes of Afro-Caribbean culture and identity, a sense of belonging, and childhood trauma. The interplay of dense surfaces and their exposed underlayers defines his unique stylistic vocabulary, which is comprised of brightly colored paint layers covered and spread with a spatula to form dramatic compositions.
