Alan Benchoam is a distinguished Guatemalan photographer and artist renowned for his innovative photographic compositions, particularly those featuring doors. He completed a degree in psychology in 1994 before pursuing photography studies at the Art Institute of Colorado. After graduating in 1997, Benchoam returned to Guatemala and established his first photography studio in 1998, dedicating over 15 years to commercial photography.
Benchoam’s artistic journey led him to create the “Doors of the Worlds” collection, a series of 3D photographic artworks that capture the unique textures, colors, and histories of doors from Guatemala and around the world. This project was born out of his fascination with the beauty found in everyday objects and his desire to present them in a novel way.
Despite being diagnosed with multiple sclerosis in 2005, Benchoam continues to produce art that invites viewers to perceive the world through a different lens, finding beauty in the ordinary and transforming it into extraordinary visual narratives.
