Fay Peck

Expressionist painter and printmaker Fay Peck was renowned for her bold, expressive oil landscapes that explode with color. Peck’s early childhood on her family farm in Illinois fostered a deep relationship with nature and resulted in her lifelong habit of drawing detailed scenes of her surroundings. She frequently painted outside her studio in suburban Chicago gardens and prairies, and scenes from her frequent trips to Colorado often became the subjects of her works. According to her mentor at the Evanston Art Center in Illinois, she possessed “three great qualities: a painter’s instinct, extraordinary color sense, and undaunted perseverance. There is a vitality and daring, built on a solid foundation of honest study.”
