Frantz Zephirin

Born in Haiti in 1968, Frantz Zephirin started painting in 1973. Though Zephirin studied under the Haitian master Antoine Obin, he soon pulled away from the stylized Cap-Haitien school. Today, his paintings are characterized by bright colors, intricate patterns, tightly compacted compositions; and human figures with animal heads, which represent his cynicism for the ruling body. Zepherin’s highly creative paintings are inspired by Haitian history, politics, the bible, and voodoo.
