Julia Morrisroe is an artist and Associate Professor in painting and drawing, having joined University of Florida in 2004. Morrisroe holds a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree from Northern Illinois University and a Master of Fine Arts from University of Washington.
Exploring issues of consumerism and corporate ownership, Morrisroe has exhibited her creative research throughout the United States and abroad. Her work was included in the national traveling exhibition “Comic Release: Negotiating Identity for the New Generation” which originated at Carnegie Mellon University, (PA). Morrisroe’s installations have been included in exhibitions at SPACES (OH), University of Arkansas, Acme Art Company (OH), and South Bend Museum of Art (IN).
Morrisroe has curated a wide range of exhibitions including “Painting!” Sympathetic: Manipulative Potential” and “Subverting the Market: Artwork on the Web” for Central Michigan University. Morrisroe’s exhibition reviews have been published by Sculpture Magazine, New Art Examiner, and Dialogue Magazine.
