Anne Lindberg makes sculpture and drawings that tap a nonverbal physiological landscape of body and space, provoking emotional, visceral and perceptual responses. She frequently returns to subtle distinctions between drawing as noun and verb as a long held focus in her studio practice. She works with an expanded definition of drawing languages and is influencing the resurgence of drawing in contemporary art.

Her work has been shown and collected in such places as the Drawing Center (New York City), Tegnerforbunet (Norway), SESC Bom Retiro (Sao Paulo), Nevada Museum of Art, Nerman Museum of Contemporary Art, Detroit Institute of Art, Bemis Center for Contemporary Arts, Cranbrook Art Museum, Spencer Museum of Art and Kemper Museum of Contemporary Art, among many others. Lindberg is currently working toward a solo exhibition at Pentimenti Gallery in Philadelphia in 2013, a large-scale commission at Rockhurst University and completion of a GSA Art-in-Architecture commission for the Richard Bolling Federal Building. She just opened a solo exhibition at Carrie Secrist Gallery in Chicago.

Lindberg is the recipient of numerous awards including a 2011 Painters & Sculptors Joan Mitchell Foundation Grant, a Charlotte Street Foundation Fellowship, two ArtsKC Fund Inspiration Grants, a Lighton International Artists Exchange grant, the Art Omi International Artists Residency, an American Institute of Architects Allied Arts and Crafts award, and a Mid-America National Endowment for the Arts Fellowship. She holds a BFA from Miami University (1985), and an MFA from Cranbrook Academy of Art (1988). Anne has her studio in Kansas City, and lives in both Kansas City and New York City.
