Melissa Kennedy

Melissa Kennedy was born in Richmond, Virginia, and grew up on military bases around the world until her family settled in a rural county in North Carolina. There she discovered art in high school and pursued a Bachelor’s degree in Industrial Design and Graphic Design at North Carolina State University. After graduation, Kennedy moved to Washington, D.C., where in addition to beginning a career in graphic design at museums, she rediscovered her personal artistic roots and began painting, drawing, and eventually creating the current process she uses incorporating raw pigment, pastels, and other materials into paints on wood. Kennedy has exhibited throughout the Washington, D.C. Metropolitan area; St. Louis, Missouri; and Nashville, Tennessee.
