F. John Hilliard was born in Burlington, Vermont, in 1880 and
studied in Boston, Massachusetts, with Eric Pape, George L. Noyes,
Charles Emerson, Harold Brett, Scott Carbee, and Richard Andrew.
He was a member of the Boston Art Club and its president
from 1942 until 1945, and a member of the Copley Society and
the Rockport Art Association. Hilliard’s works are in the permanent
collections of Boston University, Boston College, and the
University of Maine.
