Ken Browar and Deborah Ory formed the NYC Dance Project to document the ballet and modern dance community of New York through portraiture. Browar, a fashion photographer, developed a passion for dance while shooting members of the Paris Opera Ballet while Ory, a dancer since childhood, began her photography career after a dance-related injury. This husband-and-wife team view their project not just as a partnership between themselves as photographers, but as a collaboration with their subjects.
