In December of 2020, Ambassador Jamie D. McCourt and the U.S. Embassy in Paris hosted a webinar about the Art in Embassies exhibition at the Ambassador’s residence for an audience made up primarily of university students in Paris and their professors. The webinar included a brief introduction from the Ambassador followed by a virtual walk-through of the exhibition and a discussion with two artists whose works were featured in the exhibition, French American artist Jules de Balincourt and American artist Blair Thurman. In conversation with NPR Paris correspondent Eleanor Beardsley, the artists spoke of their experiences, their journeys, and how the French and American art worlds coexist. The talk ended with a question and answer session with the students. Jules de Balincourt’s Getting to No France and Blair Thurman’s Gilded Invitation and Spiders from Mars were displayed in the Art in Embassies exhibition in Paris from June 2018 through February 2021 .
