“I cannot resist the absolute joy derived from flowers, twisted trees, sea fog, and mountain peaks…I paint the wealth of nature and, sometimes, I paint the things humans build so that they can live in nature’s realm.” A native of Warren, Maine, Jean Kigel paints watercolors that document the local flora and fauna. She paints directly, without preliminary drawings, and specializes in Asian brush painting, an artform she began studying during a trip to Japan.
