Zeva Oelbaum is a New York-based photographer and filmmaker who is interested in the intersection between found objects, history and culture. Two monographs of her work have been published by Rizzoli International Publishers. Flowers in Shadow: A Photographer Re-discovers a Victorian Botanical Journal and Blue Prints: The Natural World in Cyanotype Photographs were both published in 2002. Oelbaum’s photographs are in numerous public collections including The Museum of Fine Arts, Houston, Biblioteque nationale de France, Paris, The Brooklyn Museum, Brooklyn, and The Museum of the City of New York, NYC.
Oelbaum has produced two documentary films, Rene and I and Ahead of Time. Her most recent film, Ahead of Time, premiered at the Toronto Film Festival in 2009, had a theatrical release in 2010 and will be broadcast on Showtime Network in 2011.
Oelbaum teaches at International Center of Photography.
