Wayman Adams

Wayman Adams was born in Muncie, Indiana on a farm on September 23, 1883. His father was an amateur artist and a farmer. He encouraged Wayman’s art interest. Wayman later studied art at the John Heron Institute in Indianapolis. In 1912, he went on a study trip to Spain where he met Margaret Burroughs, a fellow artist. In 1918 he and Margaret married and in 1924 they had a son. During his career, Wayman won several awards for his paintings. He spent much of his time in New York and then in Austin, Texas where he died on April 9, 1959.
