Tina Williams Brewer’s story quilts incorporate rich, colorful fabrics that “explore African American history, generational healing, and the spirituality of her culture.” Primarily hand-quilted, her pieces utilize mixed-media methods of photo transfer, printmaking, and hand-beading to produce “layered compositions that function as maps investigating her heritage, the African diaspora, and the links between past, present, and future.”
