Sarita Moffat

Although born in Connecticut, Sarita Moffat is the product of an English, Swiss, and French education. Her thirty-four year career with the National Geographic Magazine was equally divided between New York City and Washington, D.C., where she retired as a vice-president of that organization in 2001. Although emerging from the publishing world as a strategic and financial planning expert, Moffat immediately switched gears and embarked on her lifelong dream of becoming an artist. Moffat soon began studying full-time while developing her special talents in floral painting, landscapes, and still lifes. While her rose and peony paintings, as well as her brass and copper still lifes, have elicited noted attention and recognition, her landscapes and field of flowers paintings are especially sought after. She very much enjoys painting scenes from around Loudoun County, Virginia, in addition to her beloved European locales where she spent so much time in her youth. Moffat currently resides in Middleburg, Virginia, with her husband George and cats, Gulliver and Dickens. An award-winning artist, she has participated in numerous shows in the mid-Atlantic region, and many of her works can be found in private collections in the United States, Canada, and England.
