Richard Miles was born in Ogden, Utah. He began painting in oils at the age of ten, and has continued ever since. Upon graduation from Utah State University, Logan, in 1961, Miles accepted a commission in the United States Army. Retiring as a colonel in 1986, he began a second career as a landscape and wildlife painter. He enjoys tremendous support from his family – wife Fay, five children, twenty-two grandchildren, and one great granddaughter.
