Richard Krogstad

Richard Krogstad was born and raised in Harlan, Iowa, a small town surrounded by farms. After graduating from the University of Iowa in 1966, he worked as an advertising art director in Chicago and exhibited his artwork there at the Gilman Gallery. He completed an MFA in painting at the University of Massachusetts in 1973 and moved to Los Angeles, where he exhibited at the Jodi Scully Gallery and began a career in graphic design. In 1980 he moved to Minneapolis, returning to his native Midwest. Painting has been his primary occupation since 1992. His paintings have been selected by the prestigious U.S. Department of State Art in Embassies program for loan to ambassadors’ residences in Berlin, Germany, Kalonia, Micronesia and Rangoon, Burma. He and his wife, Christine, and cat, Dharma, live near Minneapolis in St. Bonifacius, Minnesota.
