Peter’s technique of “photo collage drawing” is as intriguing as it is creative. He combines photographs of a single subject, using an assortment of lenses to create different perspectives, then completes the scene with pencil, oil pastels and lithographic inks. The end product is both pleasing and puzzling. Most recently he brings his unique talent to the depiction of nostalgic — if not abandoned — barns in his adopted state of Montana.

With degrees from California College of Arts and Crafts (BFA) and California State University at Northridge (MA) Peter spent ten years teaching art to high school students. His expertise in printmaking, watercolors, oils, photography and other media eventually led to exhibits at renowned art centers in the U.S. and abroad, and he is prominently displayed in distinguished private and corporate collections on several continents. His bold triptychs of Southwest scenes near Taos have been widely imitated by other artists.

Peter is active in his local art community and is a founding member of the Saltmine Art Space. With his wife Carol Hoffnagle, he also has an extensive music collection and an enthusiasm for making works of art out of seemingly ordinary aspects of daily life.
