Born in 1963 in Champaign, IL, Nancy Blum received her B.A. in 1985 from the University of Michigan, Ann Arbor, and her M.F.A. in 1991 from the Cranbrook Academy of Art, Bloomfield Hills, MI. Currently, Blum resides in New York City.
Since the 1990s, Blum has participated in numerous solo and group shows across the country. In addition to 8 artist residencies and many awards and grants, since 1996, Blum has served as a visiting artist at numerous institutions including the Banff Centre for the Arts, Alberta, Canada; University of Washington, Seattle, WA; Connecticut College, New London, CT; Cranbrook Acadamy of Art, Bloomfield Hills, MI; Arvada Center for the Arts, Arvada, CO; Alfred University, Alfred, NY; Atlantic Center for the Arts, New Smyrna Beach, FL; Southern Methodist University, Dallas, TX; Kansas City Art Institute, Kansas City, MO; and Virginia Commonwealth Univeristy, Richmond, VA.
