Michele de la Menardiere is a professional fine artist and award-winning graphic designer based in San Francisco, California. A Washington, DC native, Michele spent her childhood steeped in endless creative play, outings to the Smithsonian museums, and wonderfully rich stories from her French and Chinese heritage. At the early age of 16, she moved abroad to travel and study art and design in Switzerland, France, and England. While soaking up these vibrant climates and cultures, she explored various artistic mediums from glass to sculpture to digital media and photography. Over time, her preference became two dimensional work on paper and canvas as that provided the most visceral and truthful expression of her emotive life.
Over the last fifteen years, Michele has exhibited her paintings and screen prints in nationally renowned galleries across the United States. She has been commissioned by a wide variety of public and private clients and her work is currently part of collections at the DC Commission for the Arts and Humanities, the American Association of Water Agencies, Westin Hotels, and Stone and Yongberg. In 2008, Michele’s work was selected for Artwalk, a public art commission in Washington, DC and in 2009, Emerge, a large-scale art installation at the Hyatt Regency Hotel in Crystal City, Virginia. Michele has shown her work through the State Department’s Art in Embassies Program at the American Embassy in Algeria and the American Embassy in Kosovo. Her work is part of the permanent collection at the American Embassy in Burkina Faso.
Michele holds a degree in Public Art and Design from Chelsea College of Art and Design, London, England.
