Born and raised on the bluffs of the Mississippi River, Matthew Hasty has always been fascinated by the tranquil beauty of the River. Prominent landscape and marine painters such as J.M. Turner, Ivan Aviazovsky, and Arkhip Kuinji are some of his influences. At the Ringling School of Art and Design in Sarasota, Florida, he began developing his technique and learned how to create works that evoke the artist’s connection to his subject. Following a brief but frustrating foray into the art world of New York City, Hasty returned to his birthplace of Memphis, Tennessee, where he continues to create hauntingly beautiful landscapes. Collectors in the United States, Europe, and Asia have acquired his work.
