Twin sisters Lisa and Lori Lubbesmeyer were born in Tacoma, Washington, and currently live and work in Bend, Oregon. The Lubbesmeyers studied art at the University of Oregon. Lori earned her degree in oil painting, and Lisa studied printmaking.
In 1992 and 1993, Lisa and Lori (respectively) moved to Minneapolis, Minnesota, where they both pursued their art careers. From 1995 – 2000, Lisa worked with an independent greeting card company where her artwork won an International Greeting Card Award. Lori was juried into the National ArtSpace Project in St. Paul, MN, where she became a founding member of the Tilsner Artist’s Cooperative, and painted and exhibited from 1993 – 1996. During the years of 1995 – 1997, Lori was juried in to participate in the Women’s Art Registry of MN Peer/Mentor Project.
The Lubbesmeyers are self-taught in surface design and fiber arts, and collaborate when creating fiber appliqué wall hangings. In 1998 Lori and Lisa combined their studios in St. Paul, where they established themselves as collaborative artists. Their collaborative fiber art has received numerous awards, and is shown in galleries, as well as corporate and private collections throughout the United States and world.
They exhibit throughout the US, including exhibitions with the American Craft Council in San Francisco, Baltimore, Chicago and St. Paul. In 2003, they were invited to exhibit with the Art in the Embassies program, where artists’ work is shown in U.S. Embassies throughout the world. In 2004, the Lubbesmeyers were featured on Oregon Public Television Broadcasting’s “Oregon Art Beat.”
