“My work poses questions about our tenuous connections to the environment and attempts to bring awareness to the themes of stewardship, fluidity, excess and integration. I am interested in the intersection of the material and spiritual, addressing the notions of transcendence and restitution.”
Kathryn Frund earned her BFA from the Cleveland Institute of the Arts and also holds a degree from the School of Visual Arts in New York. She mixes media to achieve works of art that are both complex and intimate. Each tell a story not only of her intent but also about the materials she incorporates, including wood, canvas, paper and objects to create landscapes of the senses that involve and intrigue as well as educate. The artist lives and works in Connecticut.
