Julian Jackson lives and works in Brooklyn, NY. He was born in Richmond, VA.
He studied painting, printmaking, photography, and performance at Mass. College of Art, Boston, MA, and Virginia Commonwealth University, Richmond, VA. His paintings have been exhibited widely nationally and internationally. Jackson had his fourth solo show with Kathryn Markel Fine Art in NYC in May, 2012. In 2013 he had his fourth solo exhibition at Galerie Kaysser in Munich Germany, In 2011 he had solo exhibitions at Karan Ruhlen Gallery in Santa Fe, NM, Page Bond Gallery in Richmond, VA., and Galerie Kaysser in Munich.

Jackson has been awarded fellowships from the MacDowell Colony, the Millay Colony, the Virginia Center for the Creative Arts, and Soaring Gardens, and has twice been visiting artist at the Oberfalzer Kunstlerhaus in Schwandorf Germany. He currently serves on the artists advisory panel for BRIC artspace in Brooklyn, NY, and is a member and secretary of the American Abstract Artists.
Jackson’s work can be found in numerous public and private collections in the US and abroad including the Museum of Modern Art, NY, the Metropolitan Museum, NY, and the Phillips Collection, Washington, DC.
